This quarter I was able to design the set for The Rocky Horror Show. It's such a fun show and it's a show I think every designer wants to be able to do. For this production, we wanted to embrace the sci-fi side of Rocky. I drew inspiration from old sci-fi and mad scientist movies and also looked at Escher's paintings and surrealist art. The director also wanted to have as much fun as possible and as a result, many sexual innuendos and references are hidden in the set.

It was my first time working with StageNotes, as my last shows have been with UTS. And unfortunately, I got very little support throughout this process. I spent many hours painting flats in the cold in my friend's backyard and couldn't access the space until four days before we opened. It was frustrating in those ways but I was also so happy with the work I did for this show. I am so incredibly proud of how clearly my sketches were translated onto the stage. The drawings I did look almost identical to the final set. It's the first time I've truly made a set from concept to final like this and it worked so well.
